Roof Repairs & Gutter Services

From an emergency roof leak to a full restoration of your roofing system.

A pitched roof finished in clay tiles is typical of Chiswick’s Victorian and Edwardian houses, and a displaced or cracked tile is the most common cause of leaks after strong wind. We respond to emergency callouts quickly to stop further water ingress.

Roof Repairs

We fix everything from missing tiles to storm damage. Our emergency roofing team responds fast to stop water getting in.

An emergency callout includes temporary weatherproofing of the damaged area (a tarpaulin or temporary membrane) to stop the leak straight away, followed by a full repair to the tiles, battens or waterproofing.

Gutter Cleaning

Blocked gutters cause water overflow and property damage. We clear out leaves and debris so water flows away.

Gutters blocked with leaves and moss are a common cause of damp on a facade or in a basement. Water overflows the edge and runs straight down the wall instead of going through the downpipe.

Gutter Repairs

Leaking or damaged gutters repaired or replaced — sagging sections straightened, leaks sealed, and broken lengths swapped out.

A sagging section of guttering is usually caused by weakened brackets rather than the guttering itself, so a repair includes checking and renewing the fixings.

Fascia & Soffit Replacement

Installation and replacement of fascia boards, soffits and bargeboards in uPVC or timber, protecting the roof edge and finishing the facade.

Rotten timber fascias let moisture into the roof and loft. We offer a switch to uPVC, which doesn't need painting and lasts longer.

Roof Inspections

A full roof survey identifying damage, wear and potential problems, with a detailed photo report and repair recommendations.

We recommend a roof survey every 2–3 years, or after a bad storm. Even without a visible leak inside, tiles can be displaced or cracked and only show up as a problem months later.

Lead Flashing Work

Installation and repair of traditional lead flashing around chimneys, valleys and roof junctions to keep water out.

Lead flashing around chimneys and roof valleys is vulnerable. A crack in the pointing or a shifted piece of lead causes a slow leak that's easy to miss at first.

When to worry about your roof

  • A damp patch or discolouration appears on the ceiling after rain
  • A tile is found in the guttering or on the ground near the house
  • A section of guttering is sagging or overflowing during rain
  • Moss or vegetation is spreading noticeably on a roof slope
  • Daylight is visible through the boards in the loft
  • Lead flashing has lifted, split or pulled away from a wall or chimney
Our process

How we work

1. Consultation

We take the call and confirm the symptoms (a ceiling stain, a tile on the ground, an overflowing gutter). We prioritise the visit if the situation is urgent.

2. Assessment

We inspect the roof, photograph the damaged areas where useful, and show you exactly where the problem is before quoting for the repair.

3. Clear Quote

We explain the repair options, share useful photographs and confirm the cost before work begins.

4. Make Weatherproof

Where needed, we apply temporary weatherproofing first to stop further water ingress immediately.

5. Permanent Repair

We complete the agreed repair to tiles, flashing, guttering, fascias or waterproofing.

6. Final Check

We inspect the finished work, clear debris and explain any maintenance that will help prevent recurrence.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know about roofing & gutters

How often should gutters be cleaned?

Twice a year is generally recommended, once in spring and once in autumn. Properties with mature trees overhanging the roof, or a lot of nearby greenery, may need clearing more often, since gutters there fill up faster. Neglected gutters don't just overflow during rain: the trapped moisture and debris can also encourage moss growth on the roof itself and gradually corrode metal guttering or rot timber fascias. A quick visual check after any heavy storm is also worth doing.

How much does an emergency roof repair cost after a storm?

Temporary weatherproofing, such as tarping over a damaged area, is charged at a fixed rate. The cost of the permanent repair is quoted after inspection, since it depends on factors like how many tiles need replacing, whether the underlying felt or battens were damaged, and how accessible that part of the roof is. Storm damage can look different from ground level, which is why we inspect before quoting. If the damage is significant, we provide photographs and a written report for insurance.

Can just one section of the roof be repaired, rather than the whole thing?

Yes, in most cases a localised repair to the affected tiles, flashing or waterproofing membrane is sufficient. A full re-roof becomes necessary when the covering as a whole has reached the end of its working life, for example when tiles across large areas are cracking or slipping. Patching a small area on an otherwise sound roof is cheaper and less disruptive. If we think a wider repair or full re-roof is the more sensible long-term option, we'll explain why.

What should I do if the roof is leaking right now?

Place a bucket or container under the leak to limit water damage, and move anything valuable or electrical out of the way. If water is dripping near a light fitting or socket, switch off the electrics to that area at the consumer unit. Note roughly where on the roof the water seems to be coming in from. Call our emergency line as soon as you notice the leak — we'll aim to provide temporary weatherproofing the same day.

Do you offer roof surveys before I buy or sell a property?

Yes, a pre-purchase or pre-sale roof survey is useful, since roofs are rarely inspected closely during a standard viewing. The survey covers the condition of the tiles, flashing, guttering and, where accessible, the roof structure from inside the loft. For sellers, having this done in advance means there are no surprises when a buyer's survey comes back. We provide a written summary that can be shared with buyers, solicitors or mortgage lenders.

Why do gutters sag even though they were only fitted a few years ago?

Sagging usually points to a problem with the brackets holding the guttering in place rather than the guttering itself. This can happen if the original brackets were spaced too far apart, weren't rated for the weight of a full gutter, or have loosened over time. Fascia boards behind the brackets can also deteriorate, especially if they're timber and have been exposed to trapped moisture. When we repair a sagging section, we check and renew the fixings and, where needed, the fascia behind them.
